The power of both natural daylight and artificial lighting to define space, create ambience and to transform a space is often underestimated. All rooms need a variety of lighting: ambient or background lighting, task lighting for close-up work, accent lighting to highlight special areas and feature lighting to create a focus. We believe that a good lighting scheme can really define a project and getting it right is all about planning at the early stages of a project and specifying the right products for each task and we combine our skills as commercial lighting designers with an understanding of the fundamentals of interior construction and lighting integration to produce the best solution for each environment.
Our award-winning design Nocturne Light, for Sylvania Lighting International, was exhibited at the world’s leading architecture and lighting technology trade fair, The Light and Building Exhibition, in Frankfurt Germany, where architectural possibilities of this wall-mounted luminaire received much interest from potential manufactures, including Zumtobel Lighting of Germany.
Assembled from dye-cast aluminium within a pressed steel, fire resistant enclosure, its over-scaled fixings and readable components give a semi-industrial look. The clever concept is to recess the fitting into dry wall construction, but to make a feature of the relationship between the plaster wall finishes and the aluminium castings.
